Biography Dr. Isaac Lausell

Guitarist and singer born in Brooklyn, New York. Isaac has performed with artists like with Ray Anderson, John Benitez, Ignacio Berroa, Kenwood Dennard, Jon Faddis, Eddie Gómez, Rick Latham, Matt Margvulio, Paoli Mejías, Fidel Morales, Marcello Pellitteri, Marco Pignataro, Proyecto EVIF, Oscar Stagnaro, Luis "Perico" Ortiz, Gordon Vernick and the Stony Brook Baroque Players.

Lausell’s academic career includes a Bachelors degree in Music Performance (Classical Guitar) and a Teacher’s Certification from Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, Professional Studies in Jazz Performance from University of Houston, a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies with a related field in Music Performance (Classical & Jazz Guitar) from University of North Texas and a Doctorate in Musical Arts with a concentration in Music Performance (Early Music, Classical Guitar, 20th Century and Jazz) from University of Stony Brook.

Lausell studied the guitar with Luis Enrique Julia, Thomas Johnson, Jerry Willard, Terry Hankins, Richard McClure, Fred Hamilton, Benjamin Verdery and David Leisner. Had master classes with Andrew York, Dale Stuckenbruck, Pepe Romero, John Benitez, Alexander Sergüei, Eladio Scharrón, Carlos Barbosa- Lima, Mark White, Oscar Stagnaro, and Walter Quevedo

Currently Lausell leads the guitar program (Jazz & Classical) at Southern. Illinois University Carbondale. Dr. Lausell is working on his second solo album and a new series of music books with the Institute For The Advancement Of Aural Arts.
