Jim KiliGood question. I think it depends entirely on the situation. In the studio, I mic the amp, but it's in an ideal room. Live, it depends on the size of the gig. In the studio, I mic the amp, but it's in an ideal room. Live, it depends on the size of the gig. If you have drums mic'd and vocals mic'd, I'd run through a D.I. to the Amp, then out to the mixer. In small gigs where it's just me and an acoustic/electric guitar, I run through a D.I. into the board. Also, many effects pedals double as a D.I., and in that case, I'd just plug into my amp as usual and send an out to the board. Hope this helps!
